What’s The Need? -  is a non-profit organization that supplies non perishable foods, cleaning supplies and hygiene kits to low income families, and the elderly who are recovering from every day or natural disasters.  The organization provides assistance after all client resources have been used, and there is a need for food and every day living supplies.

Our mission for the elderly is that they use their resources to pay rent and purchase medicines. Low-income families are encouraged to use other resources available until those supplies are depleted.  What’s The Need?, will provide adequate supplies to sustain the family until the next month.

The organization provides resources and monthly training on Flood Tornado and Hurricane safety, along with Fire Prevention, and how to be Red Cross Ready. We strive to provide educational information to our clients as needed.  The nonprofit also hosts Community Camp, Vacation Bible School, and The Summer Feeding Program.  We started hosting monthly mobile food drives, the fifth Friday of every month back in 2018.

We are proud to be a Partnering Agency of the North Carolina Food Bank.

The agency also has an Emergency Disaster Shelter located at 1001 East King Street.  This serves an evacuation center that converts to a shelter, as a Communtiy Partner with the American Red Cross.
